Favourite five lipsticks

Favourite five lipsticks

You may already be aware from my blog that I am a real lipstick lover. You don’t even want to know how many I have. I thought I’d do a ‘favourite five’ for my many many lipsticks. Why not let me know in the comments what your favourite five are? Are any of yours the same as mine?

First up would have to be my Tanya Burr lipstick in the shade pink cocoa. I really love how creamy and moisturising this lipstick feels and at the same time is really long lasting. Not to mention the colour which is just as gorgeous as the packaging.

Would I really be a beauty blogger if MAC Velvet Teddy wasn’t in my top five? It has got to come in a close second. Again, it feels really moisturising and the colour is just that kind of shade that I have ten different variations of because I love it so much.

Next up is my Revolution lipstick in the shade chauffeur, which isn’t that different to Velvet Teddy to be honest, just a little pinker. The reason it makes my top five is mainly because it smells like vanilla, which is amazing. Again, the packaging is really pretty too, it’s a pretty rose gold.

My final two of my five favourites are both NYX products. I know that strictly speaking, the NYX soft matte lip creams aren’t lipsticks but I love this lip cream so much I couldn’t not include it. When I ordered the shade Athens I was expecting it to be a lot more nude-like, but it is actually quite a bright pink – a shade I don’t usually go for. However, I’ve ended up really liking it and it easily lasts all day.

Finally, I’ve had my NYX Euro Trash matte lipstick for ages now and it is still a firm favourite. NYX products are all such good value – they’re high quality products and high street prices. This lipstick is a real autumnal lipstick in a dark nude-y pink but I love it so much that I just wear it throughout summer anyway. I’m pretty sure this lipstick was only a fiver, which is a bargain considering it is definitely as good as any MAC lipstick I’ve ever tried.

Make sure you let me know what your favourite lipsticks/lip products are as I’m always on the look out for more to add to my ever-growing collection. Thanks for reading and keep an eye out for a room-tour kind of post tomorrow. In the meantime why not be friends with me over on my social media? Check out my accounts here.

Five things beauty bloggers made me buy

Five things beauty bloggers made me buy

I’ve seen a lot of these posts about this recently and they’ve had me thinking – how many things have I bought because of other beauty bloggers? Or purely for blog pictures? Turns out there are quite a few things… Here are ten items that I’ve been encouraged to buy because of blogging.

  1. MAC’s Velvet Teddy lipstick. I am absolutely positive that if you are a beauty blogger you will be fully aware of Velvet Teddy, if you don’t own several. Beauty bloggers without a doubt influenced my choice to buy Velvet Teddy but I 100& don’t regret it at all. It is my most used lipstick by far, I love it. IMG_6994
  2. A corrector palette. I feel like a few months ago corrector palettes were everywhere and all anyone talked about so I got myself a Revolution one. Again, I don’t regret this purchase, I’m still using it everyday and it works wonders. img_5184
  3. Barry M Matte Me Up liquid lipstick. Again, these have been very talked about and beauty bloggers have been loving them as great dupes for the Kylie lip kits. Although I don’t at all regret buying the product as I really like it, I don’t really like the other shades that they sell. matte me up barry m
  4. Collection concealer is definitely another one of those products everyone was talking about, however I’m not sure I’m so on board with the hype on this one. Although the concealer itself was okay, I thought the choice of shades was pretty rubbish. Being a concealer, it should really be a shade lighter than your foundation but their lightest shade was far too dark for my pale skin. Facetune
  5. I’ve bought various gold/copper items and fairy lights to use in blog and Instagram pictures after seeing other bloggers use them. For example my New Look gold pineapple plate/dish or my Primark copper fairy lights. However, they also look really pretty in my room so it’s a win win situation really!

What products have beauty bloggers made you buy? Have you bought any of the products that I have for the same reason? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading and watch out for a ‘My holiday in pictures’ post coming tomorrow. If you can’t get enough of me and can’t wait until tomorrow for another post then you can check out yesterday’s blog post ‘Blogger wishlist – make-up, homeware, clothes, books & more‘ or find me on my social media links!

Mega make-up haul!

Mega make-up haul!

lid not touching

On Thursday after I was a proper big girl and went for a blood test without freaking out at all (no joke, I was so good about it and I’m still so proud of myself) I decided to treat myself to a load of new make-up bits from Superdrug.

highlight palette

I started off with the Make-up Revolution 3 strobe highlighting palette, after running out of my previous highlighter. I was really impressed with Revolution’s Colour Corrector palette (you can find my full review on the palette here) and I’ve seen some great reviews on this palette so I thought I’d give it a shot. I’ve literally only just tried it out, so can’t comment on the longevity or anything, but so far I love it! This has got to be the best highlighter I’ve tried yet. It comes in a rose-y pink colour, a gold shade and silver shade. I used a bit of the pink on the apples of my cheeks and then the silver on my cheekbones and oh my word I looked like a glitter ball. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so glowy and shiny and wow. As if that isn’t enough, it comes in this beautiful rose gold box and the lid is rose gold too. I’m a sucker for rose gold, let me tell you. I love everything about the product. Not to mention the fact that it was just £8!

eyeshadow palette

I also got the MUA burning embers eyeshadow palette. With Spring here, I fancied some brighter colours, and the pinks and golds in this palette are just perfect. I’ve got a few of the single MUA eyeshadows and I’ve always found them really long-lasting and really pigmented, so I thought I’d try one of their palettes too! I’m really looking forward to spending all day Saturday playing around with the colours and trying some new shades. Again, this palette was just £8 – a great price for so many shades!

After running out of the green shade in my Revolution colour correction palette I needed a substitute, and as I’m loving Freedom’s eyebrow pomade, I thought I’d try out their Pro HD longwear green colour corrector. The corrector worked a lot like a primer beneath my foundation and seemed to even out my skin whilst minimising the redness on my blotchy cheeks. At just £3 I’d say this is a pretty good buy. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that there is a brush attached to the end of the tube, so you can paint it straight onto your face – something I really liked. I’m forever scrubbing make-up swatches and marks off my hands, so it’s nice to be able to apply it straight to my skin.

Of course, being the lipstick lover I am, I couldn’t order make-up and not buy and lip products. I was only planning to buy one, but accidentally ended up with three products, but I have no regrets. I’m sure most of you aren’t strangers to the Barry M Matte Me Up lip kits, as they seem to be everywhere right now. I’ve seen a lot of bloggers expressing their love for the kits and describing them as dupes for the Kylie lip kits. I have to be honest, I wasn’t disappointed at all. I’m a big fan of the NYX Lingerie line, but these lip kits even beat the Lingeries. Although it is matte, it somehow doesn’t feel dry at all. It feels nice on, it seems to be lasting me well as I’ve been wearing it for six hours now and it’s survived two bacon sandwiches so… I got shade ‘Go To’, which is a gorgeous colour. The kits are just £6.99 at Superdrug, which is a seriously decent price to say you’re getting a lip liner here too. So far, I can’t really fault the kit! I’m not going to lie, Barry M aren’t ever near the top of my list when I think of make-up products, it’s the kind of brand I used to use when I was twelve and knew nothing about make-up (not that I do now, really). However, after my experience with the lip kit, I think I’ll make an effort to explore more of Barry M’s products!

tanya burr lippie.png

I also decided to get myself a Tanya Burr lipstick. I’ve tried some of Tanya’s products before, but for some reason never any of her lipsticks. I was mainly drawn to the lipstick because of the packaging tbh. I just love the gold and the ‘Tanya Burr Cosmetics’ on the lid. But the lipstick itself was equally as gorgeous actually! I got the shade Pink Cocoa, with most of the others being very red or very pink – neither of which I’m a big fan of – this was probably the only shade I really liked. It definitely is a lovely shade though, it’s a nice nude-y pink, exactly the kind shade I already own ten of. It also felt really moisturising and creamy, something I love in a lipstick. The product was just £6.99, another really reasonable price. I’ll definitely buy more of these.

revolution lippie

Lastly, I got the Revolution Rose Gold lipstick in the shade Chauffeur, which is a darker pink than the Tanya Burr lipstick. I was really surprised that the lipstick smells quite strongly of vanilla, which is actually really really nice. Again, the packaging was really nice – as I said, a sucker for rose gold. Like Tanya’s lipstick, it was quite creamy, but I did find that it wasn’t that pigmented. I don’t know, maybe it’s just the shade I’ve got, and this is how it’s meant to look, but once on, it wasn’t very defined and looked quite like more of a shimmery pink. Don’t get me wrong, I do really like how it looks on, it’s really nice and subtle actually, but it how it looks on is definitely quite different to what it looks like. Still a really lovely product though, and looks great on!

So that’s all I bought! Look out for some make-up looks featuring these products – I’ll probably post some this weekend. I hope you enjoyed, you can find all of the products over on Superdrug. But for now, i’m off to watch Coronation Street, Broadchurch and then I’m going straight to sleep because this one hour difference has well and truly scrambled my brains. While I’m off catching up on my sleep, feel free to find me on my social media accounts, my links are all here.

Five things I can’t resist buying

Five things I can’t resist buying

Over the years I’ve had obsessions with buying lots of things; from Match Attax cards and those Simpsons magnets that came in cereal boxes to Gogos Crazy Bones (omg do you remember those, though?) and scented pencils. Lately, my obsessions have become slightly less weird and pointless, and I have five key items that I just can’t resist buying when I already own loads of them. So here is my list.

Plants. I’ve got a proper thing for plants. I’ve always been a bit of a plant lover, even before it was cool to own those Ikea cacti. So obviously when it did become cool to own them, I fully embraced my phytophilia. I’ve got all sorts of plants, from your basic succulents to Easter cacti and tropical plants. I’ve also been known to buy myself flowers (I can hear you laughing), in fact I bought myself some tulips just the other day! Honestly, I could spend as much in a garden centre as I could in a book shop or make-up store. I love ’em.

Lipsticks. It’s weird, considering I probably only ever wear the same three lipsticks about 95% of the time, but I can’t seem to stop myself from buying lipsticks. As if I don’t already have enough, I actually ordered four new ones the other day – so expect a post on those very soon. I mainly buy nude colours, but I also like dark colours. I’m not particularly adventurous, you’ll never catch me buying purples or oranges. I tend to stick with the same kinds of colours – which makes it all the more ridiculous. I especially love a lipstick if the packaging is good. I’m a sucker for packaging. I’m not too fussy about brand, they don’t all have to be expensive, I’ll take what I can get.

Books. It’s probably pretty obvious from my blog already, but I’m a bit of a book worm. I love a good book. I mainly go for contemporary stuff, but I like a good old classic too. Young Adult, romance-y stuff is my go-to, but I’ll happily read a crime or thriller too. That being said, I can usually get into any genre, as long as the content is gripping. I always have to buy the physical book, even if I read it on my phone, I’ll still buy the actual book. I love everything about a book; I love a gorgeous front cover, the smell when they’re new, the satisfaction of adding a new book to my shelf. I’ve got a fair few books now, I had to get three new book shelves in January because I’d just got two stacks of books in the corner of my room that were getting far too tall. I bloody love a good book.

Candles. To be honest, I’ve got a lot better recently on the whole candle front recently. That being said, I’ve been sat here all morning really really regretting not buying the Yankee Candle I picked up and put back down in Tesco tonight – it was beautiful and reduced for Mother’s Day too. Maybe I’ll go back today and grab it. If you’d have known me this time last year, you’d have probably been wondering whether I’d lost the plot because I was buying that many candles. I used to pop to the shop in between college and I’d buy a new candle nearly every day. It got to the point where I had to stop because I just physically didn’t have enough space for any more. I’m slowly working my way through them. My favourite scent is definitely lavender – I love a good lavender candle.

Lastly, Notebooks. If I had a penny for every time I’ve bought a notebook in my life..I’d still be broke. Again, I just can’t resist. The stationery aisle in a shop is often the aisle I avoid, because I could easily spend as much time in the stationery aisle as the book aisle or the candle aisle. I’ve got drawers full of notebooks, some I haven’t even used because they’re too pretty to ruin (wow, I know). I just think you can never have too many notebooks, I’ll use them all one day I’m sure. I might be hoarding them now but when i’m fifty and I’m broke because I spent all my money on books, candles, lipsticks, plants and notebooks, at least I’ll be able to use them then.

What items can’t you resist buying? Are any of yours the same as mine? Let me know in the comments, I love hearing what you guys love! Thanks for reading, and make sure you stick around because I accidentally placed an order with Superdrug the other day, and as soon as it arrives I’ll be putting up a big make-up haul, so keep an eye out. Until then, you can find me on any of my social media links
