Friction Free Shaving subscription – does it really work?

Friction Free Shaving subscription – does it really work?

I’ve recently seen numerous bloggers raving about the Friction Free Shaving subscription service, and so I decided to see whether it really is as great as everyone is saying.

As a very un-organised and forgetful person, my razor definitely isn’t something always on my mind. I’m pretty sure that I had my previous razor for around four months (and I wonder why I get shaving rashes?!).

So when I heard about this new subscription service where you get a new blade for every week, sent to your door, without you having to life a finger, I was all for it. Plus, it saves money as you are only getting new blades and not a new handle every time!

Not to mention the fact that the razor is a gorgeous rose gold/copper colour – you can’t say no.

It is only £5 a month for the three blade razor, and £8 for the five blade (both of which easily match most other razors) and with my code GWCA18 you can get a mega 30% off!

Facetune

Okay, so it’s innovative, original, hygienic and really pretty, but does it really work? I can confirm, that after trying and testing the razor, it is friction free. I have super sensitive skin and always have to soak my legs for ages and use a load of shaving cream before shaving and then coat them in layers of aloe vera after.

However, the Friction Free Shaving razor seems to do the trick. My legs are super soft and totally rash-free! I am 100% happy with the razor and think it is well worth it’s reasonable price!

So head over to the Friction Free Shaving website and check it out, it’ll be at your door in a couple of days! You’ll never have to worry about sore and bumpy skin again!

Let me know if you give the razor a go and again, feel free to get yourself 30% off with my code – GWCA18. Thanks for reading and if you enjoyed then make sure you give my blog a follow!

MAC vs bareMinerals

MAC vs bareMinerals

You may have seen my review a couple of months ago about MAC‘s Studio Fix Fluid foundation (if not you can check it out here). After two and a half months, it has almost ran out and so I decided to invest in another foundation.

Not that I really had any issues with the Studio Fix – in fact I really liked it – I thought I’d just experiment and see if there was anything better out there.

I’ve heard some really great things about the bareMinerals bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum foundation and the reviews were all raving. At just £3.50 more expensive than the Studio Fix, I thought I’d give it a shot.

Now, the whole idea behind bareSkin is that you feel like your skin is bare. I’ll give it its due, I don’t really feel like I’m wearing any foundation, but the coverage really is really quite light.

Although I will add that it is definitely buildable. But I, personally, don’t really want to be using half a bottle every time I put my foundation on. You can’t have everything though right? I guess that weightless and bare feeling just doesn’t go with high coverage.

That is just my personal preference though, if you’re looking for a light foundation then definitely try bareSkin!

I chose the Bare Porcelain shade, as I am very pale. MAC’s NC10 is just the right shade for me, being the lightest shade available for Studio Fix, and Bare Porcelain was the lightest shade available for bareSkin. However, as you can see in the image, the two colours are kind of different. That is the Studio Fix on the right and that is bareSkin on the left. The bareSkin is really a fair bit darker – not very porcelain.

Facetune I admit, when it’s blended out and covered with my usual powder it isn’t horrifically dark but it definitely is a bit too dark for me. It’ll probably be great for when the weather sorts itself out and I have a tan – but for now I’ll be mixing it with a lighter foundation.

However, that isn’t bareMinerals’ fault that I’m as pale as a ghost. The shade isn’t right for me, and that is fine. What is annoying however, is that they call it ‘bare porcelain’ when in my opinion it is far from it. Also, on the website the image of the shade is almost white, yet in real life it is far from it. So I’m pretty disappointed that the name and image is so misleading.

All of that aside though, the foundation itself isn’t at all cakey and gives my skin a nice glowey look – it does what it says on the tin. When used with my Basic Beauty Tools blender (check out my post on their blenders here) it looks flawless and natural. If I could get a lighter shade I’d probably purchase this again as it is a great feeling and looking foundation, but for now it is just a little too dark. If you’re not particularly pale and not looking for a heavy coverage though, this would be a great foundation for you!

Overall I’d give the bareMinerals foundation a good eight out of ten. However, I’m going to give bareMinerals themselves a poor two out of ten for effort with variety of lighter shades and for making the descriptions of the shades so misleading.

Have you got a foundation you could recommend? Especially a super pale one? I’m still on the hunt for good coverage, lightweight and pale foundations (high street or high end), so leave any recommendations in the comments!

Thanks for reading! Look out for a review on the Friction Free Shaving subscription service coming on Friday – it’s an interesting one. Until then, check out my social media links and give my blog a follow if you want to see more from me!

Five things beauty bloggers made me buy

Five things beauty bloggers made me buy

I’ve seen a lot of these posts about this recently and they’ve had me thinking – how many things have I bought because of other beauty bloggers? Or purely for blog pictures? Turns out there are quite a few things… Here are ten items that I’ve been encouraged to buy because of blogging.

  1. MAC’s Velvet Teddy lipstick. I am absolutely positive that if you are a beauty blogger you will be fully aware of Velvet Teddy, if you don’t own several. Beauty bloggers without a doubt influenced my choice to buy Velvet Teddy but I 100& don’t regret it at all. It is my most used lipstick by far, I love it. IMG_6994
  2. A corrector palette. I feel like a few months ago corrector palettes were everywhere and all anyone talked about so I got myself a Revolution one. Again, I don’t regret this purchase, I’m still using it everyday and it works wonders. img_5184
  3. Barry M Matte Me Up liquid lipstick. Again, these have been very talked about and beauty bloggers have been loving them as great dupes for the Kylie lip kits. Although I don’t at all regret buying the product as I really like it, I don’t really like the other shades that they sell. matte me up barry m
  4. Collection concealer is definitely another one of those products everyone was talking about, however I’m not sure I’m so on board with the hype on this one. Although the concealer itself was okay, I thought the choice of shades was pretty rubbish. Being a concealer, it should really be a shade lighter than your foundation but their lightest shade was far too dark for my pale skin. Facetune
  5. I’ve bought various gold/copper items and fairy lights to use in blog and Instagram pictures after seeing other bloggers use them. For example my New Look gold pineapple plate/dish or my Primark copper fairy lights. However, they also look really pretty in my room so it’s a win win situation really!

What products have beauty bloggers made you buy? Have you bought any of the products that I have for the same reason? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading and watch out for a ‘My holiday in pictures’ post coming tomorrow. If you can’t get enough of me and can’t wait until tomorrow for another post then you can check out yesterday’s blog post ‘Blogger wishlist – make-up, homeware, clothes, books & more‘ or find me on my social media links!

Blogger wishlist – make-up, homeware, clothes, books & more

Blogger wishlist – make-up, homeware, clothes, books & more

I’m currently on a bit of a spending ban as I’m trying my very hardest to save my money up. Therefore, I’ve accumulated a bit of a wish list lately and I thought I’d share some of the items on my wish list – maybe you can encourage me to buy them?

First up would have to be the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. I swear this palette is all I ever hear anyone talk about and I’ve had multiple bloggers recommend it to me. So this is definitely high up on my list, I will treat myself to this palette eventually.

Next up is a TV. My TV I have in my bedroom is now about 8 years old and isn’t a Smart TV or anything fancy. I recently bought myself an Amazon Fire TV Stick to try and substitute investing in a new TV, but the stick just doesn’t seem to work well with my TV – perhaps because it is so dated. I also feel like the TV is on its way out, it keeps playing up and I just feel like it is about to leave us. So I fancy buying myself a new TV, and a bigger one too. Obviously though, this isn’t going to be cheap so I’ve been putting it off but I’m getting closer to caving. I’d really like one of these two TVs, (Samsung on the left and Phillips on the right) both of which are Smart and 4k Ultra HD and 49″. Only problem is, they’re not exactly cheap. However, it will probably last me well over ten years and when I move out I’ll be able to take it with me so I’m convincing myself by calling it an investment for the future.

I’ve got a huge Amazon basket full of books I want to buy (perhaps I should do a whole other post on my book wish list?) but two books I desperately want to purchase at the moment are Since You’ve Been Gone and The Unexpected Everything, both my Morgan Matson. Go look them up on Amazon because they look like such great reads!

I really want to treat myself to some new homeware bits for my bedroom. I’d like some cushions to go on my bed – maybe some more summery ones. I particularly like the cushions at Asda and Dunelm, they sell some really pretty ones and I particularly like this one, this one and this one. I’d also like to invest in some new blinds and voiles. Therefore, I’m planning to order maybe some white or pale grey blinds and voiles, maybe on my next pay day.

Lastly- and I could use some recommendations here – I would really like a pair of loafers. I’ve looked at so many shops, both online and in store but just can’t seem to find a pair I like. I’d preferable like them to be black but the difficult part comes here… I can’t find any that aren’t really stiff. I can’t deal with stiff shoes because my feet are so boney they just rub and it kills. I also don’t want them to be really really flat soles, my boney feet need some cushioning. So if you’ve got a pair of black loafers that you love and are no more than £30 then please hit me up with links.

If you’ve got any recommendations for loafers, TVs, homeware bits or books then please let me know in the comments! Keep your eyes peeled for a ‘Beauty Bloggers Made Me Buy It’ post coming tomorrow, and in the meantime you can find me on my social media accounts here. Thanks for reading and be sure to follow and like the post if you enjoyed it!

Spring clothes haul – ASOS, Boohoo & H&M

Spring clothes haul – ASOS, Boohoo & H&M

I recently treated myself to a bunch of new clothes and shoes and what not from ASOS, Boohoo and H&M and thought I’d share them with you guys. It is a slightly spring-like haul, I mean it is probably as colourful as I’m going to get..

IMG_6498The main thing I really needed was a pair of shoes. I’ve got a lot of trainers and I could do with some smarter more actual adulting shoes, so got myself these. Don’t get me wrong, I love Vans and Converse, they’re definitely way more comfortable, but sometimes you just need some smart shoes. Plus, I think these are a little bit more spring-like, although they’re still black. I got these from ASOS and they were £22. If you want to check them out you can find them here. I found that they were really true to size and they’re quite cushioned on the soles so they’re quite comfy. I love the lace up thing that they’ve got going on and I also love the little heel with the gold around it.

IMG_6503I decided to get myself a new pair of sunnies. I already have a nice pair that I got last
year, but I decided to get another pair so I could keep one in the car for when I’m driving and get blinded. I went for some big old cat eye ones by Mango from ASOS, and I’m obsessed with them. They were a little more than I’d usually pay for a pair of sunglasses at £16, but they feel really sturdy and I just like them so much that I couldn’t say no.

IMG_6499When I went looking for clothes I didn’t plan to buy pyjamas at all, but I saw these and just couldn’t resist. Again, they’re probably a bit pricey for a pair of pyjamas but just look at them. I’m always a sucker for some nice pyjamas, I like my comfy clothes. I also think that I could probably actually get away with wearing the shorts as actual clothes – they’d be nice to wear on the beach probably. They’re really nice and silky and just generally really comfy to wear in bed. Again, they’re from ASOS, you can find them here.

IMG_6501I also got this seriously pretty top from Boohoo. I absolutely love the mesh bit at the top and the flowers. The sleeves are so so cute too. I’m not usually a cute, flowery top kind of girl but this thing is gorgeous! The only thing I’d say is – make sure you’ve got a white vest top to go underneath as it is seriously quite see-through. Otherwise, the whole top is just so pretty and spring-like. The collar also makes it quite smart so it is ideal forwearing to work. I’m looking forward to wearing it with my new shoes on Monday! It was £20 but Boohoo had 20% off so I got it for £16! If you want to have a look for yourself, here you go.

IMG_6502I’m quite a skirt lover lately – I find them way more comfortable than skinny jeans. I’ve already got a blue denim skirt, but I decided to invest in a black one. It’s basically just your average blacked washed denim skirt, but I’m really pleased with it because ASOS did a tall version of the skirt, which is so so important for lanky old me. Skirts are always miles to short on me because of my mile-long-legs, but this is actually a socially acceptable length. It also has a little bit of fringing along the hem, which is quite nice. It was just £25 from ASOS, so check it out here if you fancy.

IMG_6504Lastly, I got this black strappy top from H&M. It’s not very colourful or spring-like at all, but it’s got this sort-of velvet like texture that’s really shiny, and I love the straps. I’ve actually been wearing it backwards, to be honest, because I like it with the straps at the front (just because the straps are never seen on my back with my hair down). It was just £12, and it’s so easy to stick with anything. I quite like wearing it over the top of a long sleeve plain white top when it isn’t very warm, or with an open checked shirt. Click here to see for yourself! Nice view of my armpits right? Sorry about that!

Thanks for reading! Let me know which item is you favourite in the comments! Look out for a skincare-related blog post coming tomorrow. In the meantime, you can find all my social media links here and you can check out my last blog post, my March favourites, here!
