Five things beauty bloggers made me buy

Five things beauty bloggers made me buy

I’ve seen a lot of these posts about this recently and they’ve had me thinking – how many things have I bought because of other beauty bloggers? Or purely for blog pictures? Turns out there are quite a few things… Here are ten items that I’ve been encouraged to buy because of blogging.

  1. MAC’s Velvet Teddy lipstick. I am absolutely positive that if you are a beauty blogger you will be fully aware of Velvet Teddy, if you don’t own several. Beauty bloggers without a doubt influenced my choice to buy Velvet Teddy but I 100& don’t regret it at all. It is my most used lipstick by far, I love it. IMG_6994
  2. A corrector palette. I feel like a few months ago corrector palettes were everywhere and all anyone talked about so I got myself a Revolution one. Again, I don’t regret this purchase, I’m still using it everyday and it works wonders. img_5184
  3. Barry M Matte Me Up liquid lipstick. Again, these have been very talked about and beauty bloggers have been loving them as great dupes for the Kylie lip kits. Although I don’t at all regret buying the product as I really like it, I don’t really like the other shades that they sell. matte me up barry m
  4. Collection concealer is definitely another one of those products everyone was talking about, however I’m not sure I’m so on board with the hype on this one. Although the concealer itself was okay, I thought the choice of shades was pretty rubbish. Being a concealer, it should really be a shade lighter than your foundation but their lightest shade was far too dark for my pale skin. Facetune
  5. I’ve bought various gold/copper items and fairy lights to use in blog and Instagram pictures after seeing other bloggers use them. For example my New Look gold pineapple plate/dish or my Primark copper fairy lights. However, they also look really pretty in my room so it’s a win win situation really!

What products have beauty bloggers made you buy? Have you bought any of the products that I have for the same reason? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading and watch out for a ‘My holiday in pictures’ post coming tomorrow. If you can’t get enough of me and can’t wait until tomorrow for another post then you can check out yesterday’s blog post ‘Blogger wishlist – make-up, homeware, clothes, books & more‘ or find me on my social media links!

Blogger wishlist – make-up, homeware, clothes, books & more

Blogger wishlist – make-up, homeware, clothes, books & more

I’m currently on a bit of a spending ban as I’m trying my very hardest to save my money up. Therefore, I’ve accumulated a bit of a wish list lately and I thought I’d share some of the items on my wish list – maybe you can encourage me to buy them?

First up would have to be the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. I swear this palette is all I ever hear anyone talk about and I’ve had multiple bloggers recommend it to me. So this is definitely high up on my list, I will treat myself to this palette eventually.

Next up is a TV. My TV I have in my bedroom is now about 8 years old and isn’t a Smart TV or anything fancy. I recently bought myself an Amazon Fire TV Stick to try and substitute investing in a new TV, but the stick just doesn’t seem to work well with my TV – perhaps because it is so dated. I also feel like the TV is on its way out, it keeps playing up and I just feel like it is about to leave us. So I fancy buying myself a new TV, and a bigger one too. Obviously though, this isn’t going to be cheap so I’ve been putting it off but I’m getting closer to caving. I’d really like one of these two TVs, (Samsung on the left and Phillips on the right) both of which are Smart and 4k Ultra HD and 49″. Only problem is, they’re not exactly cheap. However, it will probably last me well over ten years and when I move out I’ll be able to take it with me so I’m convincing myself by calling it an investment for the future.

I’ve got a huge Amazon basket full of books I want to buy (perhaps I should do a whole other post on my book wish list?) but two books I desperately want to purchase at the moment are Since You’ve Been Gone and The Unexpected Everything, both my Morgan Matson. Go look them up on Amazon because they look like such great reads!

I really want to treat myself to some new homeware bits for my bedroom. I’d like some cushions to go on my bed – maybe some more summery ones. I particularly like the cushions at Asda and Dunelm, they sell some really pretty ones and I particularly like this one, this one and this one. I’d also like to invest in some new blinds and voiles. Therefore, I’m planning to order maybe some white or pale grey blinds and voiles, maybe on my next pay day.

Lastly- and I could use some recommendations here – I would really like a pair of loafers. I’ve looked at so many shops, both online and in store but just can’t seem to find a pair I like. I’d preferable like them to be black but the difficult part comes here… I can’t find any that aren’t really stiff. I can’t deal with stiff shoes because my feet are so boney they just rub and it kills. I also don’t want them to be really really flat soles, my boney feet need some cushioning. So if you’ve got a pair of black loafers that you love and are no more than £30 then please hit me up with links.

If you’ve got any recommendations for loafers, TVs, homeware bits or books then please let me know in the comments! Keep your eyes peeled for a ‘Beauty Bloggers Made Me Buy It’ post coming tomorrow, and in the meantime you can find me on my social media accounts here. Thanks for reading and be sure to follow and like the post if you enjoyed it!

To be read – on holiday!

To be read – on holiday!

I have just touched down today in Devon – as you can see from the super tumblr-y feature image. So expected some adventure related posts coming in the next week! Of course, a whole week of relaxing means a hell of a lot of reading for me so I’m about to catch up on all the reading that I haven’t had time to do the past couple of months. I thought I’d share with you guys what I plan to read, and if you like I could post an update at the end of my holiday to rate the books I read.

I’m aiming to read three books while I’m away, as I’ve also got a bunch of Netflix shows I want to binge on too. These are the three I plan to read, along with a little summary of what they’re about! (Side note – I totally didn’t plan the whole pink theme, but in hindsight it makes this post way more aesthetically pleasing.)

UnknownThe first book on my list, which I am absolutely dying to read, is A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard. I read Beautiful Broken Things and completely well and truly loved it and so I’m desperate to read A Quiet Kind of Thunder and praying that it is just as good. The book follow Steffi, who doesn’t talk, and Rhys, who can’t hear. When Rhys starts at Steffi’s school, she is assigned to look after with her basic knowledge of sign language. As Steffi discovers her voice, she also discovers that she is falling in love with Rhys. Let’s hope the book is as good as Beautiful Broken Things, because if you haven’t already read that then you totally should – it’s a good ‘un. Plus, both of the front covers for these books are just gorgeous, they look amazing on my book shelf.

28482571Next up is Faceless by Alyssa Sheinmel – courtesy of one of my best friends (thanks Em). I’ve really been wanting to read this one for a while, and I’m really excited now I’ve finally got the book. Faceless is about a girl called Maisie who’s face has been partially destroyed by freak lightening accident. Maisie’s life completely changes in the aftermath of the accident. Her whole life has been affected, not just her face. The book looks at how appearance affects relationships and day-to-day life and just how important looks are to the rest of the world. I’m actually so excited to read this, I really hope it lives up to my expectations because I feel like it’s going to be a really good story.

ANNA+UKLastly, Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I’ve been wanting to read Stephanie Perkins’ trilogy for ages. The reviews for Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door and Isla and the Happily Ever After are all so so good and I’ve got no idea why it’s taken me this long to get round to reading them really! The book follows Anna’s move from her happy, comfortable life in Atlanta with her best friend, car, job and dream boyfriend, when her father decides it is time for Anna to experience culture and enrols her in an American school in Paris. Anna has no idea how she’s going to survive until she comes across Etienne St. Claire, the perfect boyfriend. However, Etienne has a girlfriend and Anna has an almost-boyfriend at home in Atlanta. So if you’re wondering what will come of Anna and Etienne, you better give the book a read!

So those are the three books I’m planning to read on my week away. Expect a couple of adventurous-photography type posts at some point within the next week as I explore this little village in Devon. In the meantime, check out my social media links to find me elsewhere on the internet, and have a lovely Easter weekend!

(P.S. if you want to hit me up on Goodreads then you can find me here, although I only recently made this account so I need to get it up to date a bit more.)

Trying free from/vegan easter eggs

Trying free from/vegan easter eggs

You may or may not be aware that as of January I have been avoiding dairy and gluten. I was suffering from a lot of heartburn and stomach cramps and I realised that eating gluten and dairy wasn’t necessarily the cause, but was definitely contributing. Since cutting the two out of my diet (with the exception of an occasional mcdonald’s), I have been almost completely heartburn free and I barely get any stomach cramps.

However, if you’re a fellow difficult person with intolerances or allergies, or a vegan, you’ll know that it can be a pain in the ass to find alternatives. Fortunately, gluten and dairy free products are becoming more popular and it isn’t that difficult (although it can be expensive.) Yet, with easter coming up, I just kind of assumed that I wouldn’t be getting any easter eggs this year as I though Free From eggs probably just weren’t a thing. Bu thank God, I was wrong.

Turns out, your very own Tesco and Asda both sell amazing Free From eggs! I’ve done you guys a favour, and tested both eggs (it was really difficult for me, but I managed it) and I’m going to give you the low down on them. In case you’re wondering what the point of this post is… 1. it was a good excuse for me to eat some chocolate and 2. if there is anyone else out there that is absolutely devastated to be missing out on the egg action this easter, like I thought I was, I want you to know that you don’t have to!

IMG_6546

First up, we’ve got the Asda egg and chocolate orange discs! I really really enjoyed the egg, to be honest there’s not a lot to say because it just tasted like a normal egg. The egg is free from gluten, wheat and dairy and comes with a bunch of chocolate orange discs in the bottom (which are probably the best part). With it, I also bought some of Asda’s little packets of chocolate orange discs (which are basically chocolate buttons) and again, they were lovely. The egg is just £4 and was voted joint winner of the Good Housekeeping Free From Easter egg test 2017! The chocolate orange discs were just 37p per bag, which is really a very decent price. If you want to check out the full ingredients list, here is a link to the egg on Asda’s site. As far as I can see there aren’t any signs that the egg includes actual chicken type eggs (not easter ones), so if you have an egg allergy, you might be cool with these.

IMG_6560

Then there’s the Tesco egg. Again, it tasted good, not really any different to the Asda egg! However, the Tesco egg came with gold coins, so they were a bit boring in comparison to the Asda chocolate orange discs – but maybe you prefer boring? Another difference was, the Asda egg is 200g, whereas the Tesco egg is 115g, so you get more chocolate in the Asda egg. However, the Tesco egg is cheaper at £2.50, and is also part of Tesco’s 2 for £3 egg deal – which is a bargain. Overall though, it’s a really nice egg. Again, it is gluten, wheat and dairy free and as far as I can see there isn’t any real chicken eggs involved. You can check out the full ingredients list on the Tesco site here. Along with the egg, I also got these cool easter bunny shaped marshmallows, which were also gluten and dairy free – however, they’re not vegetarian or vegan friendly, so.

Overall, I did prefer the Asda egg, but the Tesco egg was definitely still a pleasure to eat. In all honesty, I’m just thankful that either of them exist or else I’d be having a pretty boring easter!

So, if you know anyone that is vegan or gluten, dairy or wheat intolerant, link them to this post so they know that easter this year doesn’t have to be egg-less! Make sure to give this post a like if you’re a fellow intolerant or if you’re a vegan and this has helped you out! Thanks for reading!

Spring clothes haul – ASOS, Boohoo & H&M

Spring clothes haul – ASOS, Boohoo & H&M

I recently treated myself to a bunch of new clothes and shoes and what not from ASOS, Boohoo and H&M and thought I’d share them with you guys. It is a slightly spring-like haul, I mean it is probably as colourful as I’m going to get..

IMG_6498The main thing I really needed was a pair of shoes. I’ve got a lot of trainers and I could do with some smarter more actual adulting shoes, so got myself these. Don’t get me wrong, I love Vans and Converse, they’re definitely way more comfortable, but sometimes you just need some smart shoes. Plus, I think these are a little bit more spring-like, although they’re still black. I got these from ASOS and they were £22. If you want to check them out you can find them here. I found that they were really true to size and they’re quite cushioned on the soles so they’re quite comfy. I love the lace up thing that they’ve got going on and I also love the little heel with the gold around it.

IMG_6503I decided to get myself a new pair of sunnies. I already have a nice pair that I got last
year, but I decided to get another pair so I could keep one in the car for when I’m driving and get blinded. I went for some big old cat eye ones by Mango from ASOS, and I’m obsessed with them. They were a little more than I’d usually pay for a pair of sunglasses at £16, but they feel really sturdy and I just like them so much that I couldn’t say no.

IMG_6499When I went looking for clothes I didn’t plan to buy pyjamas at all, but I saw these and just couldn’t resist. Again, they’re probably a bit pricey for a pair of pyjamas but just look at them. I’m always a sucker for some nice pyjamas, I like my comfy clothes. I also think that I could probably actually get away with wearing the shorts as actual clothes – they’d be nice to wear on the beach probably. They’re really nice and silky and just generally really comfy to wear in bed. Again, they’re from ASOS, you can find them here.

IMG_6501I also got this seriously pretty top from Boohoo. I absolutely love the mesh bit at the top and the flowers. The sleeves are so so cute too. I’m not usually a cute, flowery top kind of girl but this thing is gorgeous! The only thing I’d say is – make sure you’ve got a white vest top to go underneath as it is seriously quite see-through. Otherwise, the whole top is just so pretty and spring-like. The collar also makes it quite smart so it is ideal forwearing to work. I’m looking forward to wearing it with my new shoes on Monday! It was £20 but Boohoo had 20% off so I got it for £16! If you want to have a look for yourself, here you go.

IMG_6502I’m quite a skirt lover lately – I find them way more comfortable than skinny jeans. I’ve already got a blue denim skirt, but I decided to invest in a black one. It’s basically just your average blacked washed denim skirt, but I’m really pleased with it because ASOS did a tall version of the skirt, which is so so important for lanky old me. Skirts are always miles to short on me because of my mile-long-legs, but this is actually a socially acceptable length. It also has a little bit of fringing along the hem, which is quite nice. It was just £25 from ASOS, so check it out here if you fancy.

IMG_6504Lastly, I got this black strappy top from H&M. It’s not very colourful or spring-like at all, but it’s got this sort-of velvet like texture that’s really shiny, and I love the straps. I’ve actually been wearing it backwards, to be honest, because I like it with the straps at the front (just because the straps are never seen on my back with my hair down). It was just £12, and it’s so easy to stick with anything. I quite like wearing it over the top of a long sleeve plain white top when it isn’t very warm, or with an open checked shirt. Click here to see for yourself! Nice view of my armpits right? Sorry about that!

Thanks for reading! Let me know which item is you favourite in the comments! Look out for a skincare-related blog post coming tomorrow. In the meantime, you can find all my social media links here and you can check out my last blog post, my March favourites, here!

P.S. who has been watching 13 Reasons Why then?! Let me know if you are LOVING it as much as I am!!
